CityStudio WordPress Website
CityStudio WordPress Website
CityStudio Vancouver is an innovation hub that brings together city staff, students, faculty and community to co-create experimental projects that make Vancouver more sustainable, liveable, joyful, and inclusive.
It was co-founded in 2011 by Dr. Janet Moore and Duane Elverum to accelerate sustainability in higher education and provide students with direct opportunities to work in and with the city on urban challenges.
Problem:
City Studio had been running their website successfully for a few years, but during the pandemic, they had a number of staff changes that affect the regular maintenance and upkeep of their website.
This left the site a little out of date and disorganized. The website as a whole still worked well for the organization, but they needed some workflow and styling updates.
Solution:
Revaluate the goals and message of the website and reorganize all the content into a new navigation menu. This solution is great for a company that is looking to get a little bit more longevity out of their website instead of doing a complete rebuild.
WEBSITE ORGANIZATION BEFORE & AFTER
The navigation we started with was a little convoluted and had too many sub-menus. We managed to archive a lot of pages that were no longer relevant to the current brand and refocus on there new 2021 goals.
WEB DESIGN BEFORE & AFTER
After the initial build of a website, it is always good to review it a few months later and see if all the original design choices are still working as planned. For this project, some of the layouts and graphics on the home page were no longer needed. We updated and cleaned up the home page to make the calls to action more concise. The blog page was a little difficult to read, so we added a white background and a board to each post excerpt, and made some typography changes to keep this page on brand.

WHAT THE CLIENT HAD TO SAY
We greatly enjoyed working with Kelsey on a refresh to the CityStudio Vancouver website. With a limited budget, she was able to meet our greatest needs in a timely and professional manner. Her keen eye for design helped us utilize our current theme to its fullest potential. With her help, she left us with the best version our website could be without a whole re-design, and identified areas to keep an eye on for when we were ready to take the next step with our website.
